Antique 19th century antique inlayed lidded document box made out of rosewood. Its hinged top is decorated with a center medallion made of inlaid Dore bronze scrolls and floral designs which are accented with mother of pearl, ivory, and silver. Surrounding the medallion and located around the lid’s perimeter are multiple parallel bands of geometrical narrow strips of Dore bronze and ivory inlay. The lid’s four corners have inlay botanical rosette centered with ivory inlay. When the lid is raised, the compartment’s front face pulls down and opens to reveal inside two small pull-out drawers with ivory knobs. Strips of Dore bronze inlay decorate the inside of the compartment as well as the drawers’ faces. Floral and scroll designs surround the box’s keyhole, and the box sits on four round flat feet. England mid 19th Century.
