A superb early 18th century Spanish colonial document box with heavy hand forged iron clasp, hinges and lock-plate and hand forged nails. Constructed out of rosewood and the top is decorated with edge molding made out of ebony. The box has cascade base molding and its bracket feet are ebony too. It has a rich and lustrous surface patina. Lock and key are original and in working condition.
