We have for sale an antique 18th century ellipse- shaped brown tortoise shell Tea Caddie with a hinged lid. For opening the lid, there is a brass ring handle set in decorative metal.  The body of the caddie is decorated with a center medallion portrait, a portrait on painted on ostrich shell of Mary, Queen of Scots.  The hinged lid’s interior is lined with green cloth, and the lid’s lock has a key.

Origin England or Scotland.

Mary, Queen of Scots, also known as Mary Stuart or Mary I of Scotland, reigned over Scotland from 14 December 1542 to 24 July 1567.  Mary, the only surviving legitimate child of King James V, was six days old when her father died and she acceded to the throne.
