This is a beautiful antique 19th century Napoleon III period French Louis XV style, Boulle style secretary desk cabinet. The secretary has opulent brass marquetry on a background of red tortoiseshell with gilt bronze ornaments. Its upper part is a cabinet that sits above three drawers. The cabinet has two shelves behind its door, each side has three graduated open shelves. There is a single open shelve above the door decorated with a pierced bronze gallery. The cabinet's bottom portion has a central drawer and a sliding writing top covered with green felt. The drawer is decorated in the same style as the cabinet's upper portion. It stands on and is flanked by S- shaped cabriole legs executed with bronze sabot feet.
The cabinet is in excellent general condition. It had some restoration by antique renovation specialists, and is structurally sound.
