19th century Italian hand painted Renaissance Revival Majolica charger or wall platter featuring a Renaissance painting and known as an Istoriato (history plate). Size is 16”. This style of painting first occurred during the Italian Renaissance when artists took scenes from classical paintings and transferred them to ceramic surfaces. This plate is typical of the style created by the workshops of Urbino or Pesaro in the 16th century. Ginori, Italy mark 1850-1903.
