A rare and exceptional antique 19th century gilded Italian Louis XV style table with a marble top. The hand carved gilt wood center table has a turtle shape and its original white colored marble top. The serpentine shaped table has elegant carvings of acanthus scrolls, leaves, shells and face masks. It was obviously done by a talented Master Carver, the table is finely chiseled and exhibits crisp precise details with great depth. Its light airy exuberance is typical of the delicate Rococo style championed by Cuvilliés, who some credit with introducing the Rococo style to Central Europe. All in original condition.
