19th Century Cloisonné Vase. Japan or China. Its heavy copper body is decorated in brass wires with symmetrically spaced designs of two branches of plum flowers and leaves. The upper neck is decorated with a panel of abstract clouds, blue, black and red enamels. The technique of using many wires on the ground is characteristic of early nineteen century Japanese cloisonné makers, who closely copied Chinese models.
