This is an exquisite Antique eighteenth century English Regency Penwork tea caddy. In sarcophagus shape, the top of the caddy is decorated superbly with three figures in a landscape, foliage, and flowers in chinoiserie style. Also decorating the top is a Penwork border of foliage and grapes. The caddy's sides have ornamental foliage and scroll designs. The interior of the lid has beautiful Penwork flowers and leafage. Inside the caddy are two tea compartments with lids that can be lifted. These lids are decorated with flowers and scrolls and are lifted with ivory knobs. The caddy and all of its decorations are in excellent condition for its age, except the original lock key is missing. The caddy has brass ball feet. Circa 1790’s .
