19th Century Napoleon III period French Louis XV style, Boulle style secretary desk cabinet. The secretary has opulent brass marquetry on a background of red tortoiseshell with gilt bronze ornaments. Upper portion of the cabinet have three drawers and center door with fitted shelve interior, each side has three graduated open shelves. There is a single open shelve above the door decorated with a pierced bronze gallery. The cabinet’s bottom portion has a central drawer and a sliding writing top covered with green felt. The drawer is decorated in the same style as the cabinet’s upper portion. It stands on and is flanked by S- shaped cabriole legs executed with bronze sabot feet.
The cabinet is in excellent general condition. It had some restoration by antique renovation specialists, and is structurally sound.
